The Grace of God

Amazing Grace How Sweet the Sound, that Saved a Wretch Like Me.   I Once Was Lost but Now I’m Found; was Blind but Now I See.

When John Newton first penned those words, he had no idea how enduring and therapeutic they would be for the church universal. Everyone who has been touched by the Master can testify to the truths conveyed in this classic hymn. Yet, how many of us truly reflect on the grace of God on a daily basis? How often do we remind ourselves that it is only by the grace of God that we have anything, and are anything? If you have not been as mindful of God’s grace in your life as you should be, I encourage you to read one of my favorite passages in the Old Testament: Nehemiah 9:1-31. In this passage, the Levitical priests are comforting the penitent Israelites with the story of God’s miraculous grace extended towards them for centuries.

As you read these verses, it melts your heart to imagine how much grace God has extended to us. Yes, we all know that the ultimate expression of God’s love and grace is found at the cross, but even reflecting on our daily lives reveals that were it not for the grace of God, life would not be worth living.

Please, read this passage from Nehemiah and see how the Lord may confirm His favor towards us, in spite of our sin. Perhaps that will be a catalyst used to produce a greater heart of devotion to the One Who loved us and gave His Son for us.

God bless you.
